ReGenesis Community Development Agency is developing a permit framework for Legacy Villages: low-impact, multi-family rural settlements on large-acreage parcels in unincorporated areas of counties.
Our framework has four main pillars:
- Keep the land in agricultural use.
- Keep infrastructure low-impact.
- Clear criteria for water, wastewater, traffic, safety, and compatibility with neighboring ranches.
- Allow a small circle of households to share a lasting home the county can recognize and permit.
The Agency prepares the framework and assists applicants so county staff receive a complete, well-documented proposal.
The first pilot is being prepared for Delta County, Colorado, where ranching and agricultural land need practical ways to remain in care, and where families who wish to uphold that legacy need a lawful place to stand. The first successful pilot is meant to become a model other rural counties can adapt to their own rules.
